How to Support Us

The Great Lakes Consortium will celebrate its 15-year anniversary in 2014. GLC contributed to our local economy by bringing significant outside financial resources for international programs to NW Ohio working successfully with the US State Department and USAID, as well as attracting support from foundations and various donors and supporters.

GLC received twelve grants from the U.S. State Department, five grants from USAID Community Connections Program and two grants from Open World Program for international exchange programs implemented in NW Ohio with thirteen countries around the world (Afghanistan, Belarus, Botswana, Bulgaria, Hungary, Lebanon, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Tanzania, Ukraine and Zambia).  Within 15 years, GLC programs welcomed 900 foreign participants in NW Ohio and organized visits for over 600 Americans to travel overseas.

GLC contributed to international education introduced the foreign guests and programs at more than 550 multicultural public events with an overall impact on over 75,000 Americans in NW Ohio, and thousands of people and their families in Europe, Asia, Africa and other parts of United States (Indiana, Michigan, Illinois). We had a large emphasis on empowerment of women and contributing to the development of the youth locally and globally.

GLC has a wide network and direct impact on five counties (Lucas, Wood, Seneca, Ottawa, Sandusky) in NW Ohio attracting hundreds of volunteers and community partners to local and global activities.
