How to Support Us

10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY GIFT TO THE GREAT LAKES CONSORTIUM

The Great Lakes Consortium will celebrate its 10-year anniversary in 2009. GLC contributed to our local economy by bringing significant outside financial resources for international programs to NW Ohio working successfully with the US State Department and USAID, as well as attracting support from foundations and various donors and supporters.

GLC received nine grants from the U.S. State Department and five grants from USAID Community Connections Program for international exchange programs implemented in NW Ohio with nine countries around the world (Afghanistan, Belarus, Botswana, Lebanon, Hungary, Russia, Tanzania, Ukraine, and Zambia).  Within 10 years, GLC programs welcomed 700 foreign participants in NW Ohio and organized visits for over 600 Americans to travel overseas.

GLC contributed to international education introduced the foreign guests and programs at more than 450 multicultural public events with an overall impact on over 70,000 Americans in NW Ohio, and thousands of people and their families in Europe, Asia, Africa and other parts of United States (Indiana, Michigan, Illinois). We had a large emphasis on empowerment of women and contributing to the development of the youth locally and globally.

GLC has a wide network and direct impact on five counties (Lucas, Wood, Seneca, Ottawa, Sandusky) in NW Ohio attracting hundreds of volunteers and community partners to local and global activities.
