Welcome to the Institute for Democratic Exchange!






Ohio schools partnering
with Ukraine and Hungary

The Institute for Democratic Exchange is an international educational project that provides Ohio fourth through eight graders, teachers and their schools with a unique opportunity to participate in an enriched multi-cultural and civic educational experience.

The project promotes democratic participation and decision-making, as well as voluntary service and involvement in non-governmental community organizations. Through this project, participating schools will develop an appreciation to cultural diversity, while their ability to use modern technology to communicate will be also enhanced through Internet-fax-audio-mail exchanges between classrooms in Hungary, Ukraine and Ohio.

Ten Ohio schools were chosen to participate in the pilot year of the exchange program, cooperating with eight Ukrainian and eight Hungarian schools.
